Award winning song! Drenched in Celtic folklore! Strong vocals! Passionate instrumentation!
A musical must for the fans of Celtic Folk!

After the successful release of their first studio album, Home, the band wanted to raise the bar musically. Fae Wiedenhoeft, the band’s creator and primary songwriter, honed her skills to weave stories into stronger songs. Two months before the release of North Winds, Fae was awarded first place in the Bob Kotta Songwriting Contest for her song Sailor. At the same time, her song Running was featured on the No Depression website. North Winds continues to get attention from the media! It has been said that Fae Wiedenhoeft and her voice are ".. one of the best kept secrets in the Celtic world."

Recorded on 1/2' tape by Kelly Blanchard at Green Arbor Studios, North Winds swirls10 heart-holding tracks from an old traditional piece welcoming the listener to the fire, to stormy seas, stories of Selkies, love burning up, green-eyed waters, toe-tappin’ drinkin; songs, and more! It was mixed by Ron Allen at Four Lumen Studio and mastered by Chris Hanzsek at Hanzsek AV.

about

from a conversation with the bar man at the Brazen Head Pub in Dublin

lyrics

We landed but two days ago and we wandered these Dublin streets.
Down to the BrazenHead Pub for a well deserved pint and reprieve.
And the barman spoke of old times.
From poor to poorer the Irish remain.
The Celtic Tiger has lost its mighty roar and we’re back to the same ways again
Chorus:
And the wind sing the old songs that I’ve always known.
The ones that my friends sang; some are here, some are gone.
And the wind sings of freedom and of things left unseen.
As we sit in this old pub and live the dream of 1916.

And the whiskey was flowing and that barman he went on
Sayin’ 40% of his wage went to pay Ireland’s Government loans.
And the water and rubbish are taxed; taxes like a king was still here.
And we are back to the days when feeding a family and paying the rent is certainly unclear.
Chorus.

And we make due you see.
And yes, we are technically free.
And our lives are so much better than my father’s father had dreamed.
And each night I talk to the tourists and we laugh at our global pains.
And remember that sharin’ a pint and singin’ a song
breathes hope with each refrain.
Chorus.
